2-2 Front Connector and Pin Deﬁ nitions

1. Internal SAS Connector (Drive 0-3)

The Internal SAS port connects to the back-

plane allowing the motherboard to access the

hard drives. This connector supports up to four

HDD ports. This card supports SAS, SATA1,

and SATA2 drives.

Use a single port SAS "ipass" cable (Super

Micro order number CBL - 0108L-02).

2. External SAS Connector (Drive 4-7)

The Exteranal SAS port provides connection

to servers. This connector supports up to four

HDD ports. This card supports SAS, SATA1,

and SATA2 drives.

Use an external SAS cable (Super Micro order

number CBL - 0166).

3. I-Button

The I-Button allows RAID operation with Mega-

RAID ﬁ rmware.
